    In guidance with Supervisor the Analyst performs instrumental analysis of samples for the determination of organic compounds. The Analyst performs routine and complex instrument maintenance and instrument troubleshooting. Day to day activities include analyzing samples using GC and LC systems in conjunction with automated sample introduction systems. Analyst will perform sample preparation, quality control sample preparation, data evaluation, and data reporting.

    Analyst staff are considered proficient at instrumental analysis and learning new tests should be routine.


    • Prepare and analyze samples according to SOPs and standards with GC and LC
    • Perform basic and complex instrument maintenance and repair as needed.
    • Perform analytical standard preparation.
    • Maintain familiarity with quality control measures and calculations required for applicable methods.
    • Participate in staff meetings.
    • Participate in proficiency testing program and support quality by investigating questionable and unsatisfactory results
    • Assist in training and guidance of more junior staff.
    • Required to operate multiple instruments on a day to day basis.
    • Is able to perform advanced method development tasks including new test implementation.
    • Assists the Team Leader or Supervisor with scheduling tasks when needed.


    Qualifications & Skills


    Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Chemistry. 

    A minimum of 2 years of experience on GC-MS/FID and/or LC-MS. 

    General knowledge of chemistry and knowledge of various analytical techniques and methodologies.

    Ability to work well with others & independently.

    Proven time management skills and a strong attention to detail.

    Knowledge of English is an asset.
